A Star Is Born!

I know it’s late, but I couldn’t resist doing a quick post about Lady Gaga’s Oscars outfit!

As most of you know, Lady Gaga won Best Song for the movie A Star Is Born at the 2019 Oscars. I’m very glad she won, she deserved it!

I loved how Gaga paid tribute to the past in her outfits that night. The beautiful canary yellow diamond necklace was the same diamond worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s publicity photos. As soon as I saw the necklace, I knew! It’s breathtaking, and gives perfect old Hollywood vibes.

I love how Lady Gaga has grown with her career. While I like her outlandish outfits, it’s nice to see her sophistication evolve, while still keeping her uniqueness.

Please see A Star Is Born if you haven’t already! It’s a beautiful love story, and both Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper give amazing performances!

The Wedding of the Century & How I Think Meghan Markle Is Doing So Far!

A few months ago, the world witnessed the royal wedding of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle. Yes, I was one of those people who got up before the crack of dawn to watch the royal wedding. I’m a sucker for romance, what can I say?

My Maw Maw & I had coffee & pastries while we watched live at 5am. It was so fun!

I did all my research before hand to find out all I could about Prince Harry & Meghan’s royal romance. All the TV documentaries were watched. Suffice to say I also watched the Lifetime movie of how they fell in love. I know, I know. That channel totally takes their own liberties to fill in the blanks for any biographical pictures. I will give them credit, though, on who played the leads. Harry looked pretty good, but the actress who played Meghan was uncanny!

Now, most of us think we know who Prince Harry is. He’s been in the media spotlight since he was born. But Meghan Markle, at least for me, was a complete mystery. Even though the show Suits had been on television for quite a while, I’d never heard of it. Meghan spent the last few years on that show, and in most recent years began dating Prince Harry. Comparisons can be made to another actress, Grace Kelly, who went from movie star to Princess overnight.

Meghan’s presence in Harry’s life feels like a breath of fresh air. She is poised, beautiful, & intelligent. She is a strong supporter of women’s rights, & expresses her views in captivating manner. She’s not afraid to break the mold by royalty standards, & I think that’s for the best. In that way, I think she reminds me of Princess Diana. Both strong, passionate women.

I admit I was a bit hesitant when they got engaged, but she is winning me over more & more every day. She handles situations so gracefully, and seems to really support Harry.

I feel he made a great choice, & I can’t wait to see how Meghan & Prince Harry take on the world together!

Be on the lookout for my future post on Meghan’s style as a royal!

New Year, New Me!

Happy New Year, everyone!

A lot happened in 2017 that I’m so thankful for. We got a puppy named Bear who brings us so much joy! We have started saving up for a future house. And as trivial as it may sound, I think I’ve found an acne routine that is helping with my hormonal acne.

With that said, I thought I’d share some resolutions that I want to bring into 2018. Some are the typical yearly resolutions, but others are a bit more personal for me.

  1. Less sugar & sweets
  2. Get back into blogging
  3. Try to read one book a month
  4. Let go & let God
  5. Don’t be afraid to stand up for myself
  6. Start building a classic & sophisticated wardrobe
  7. Plan our Hawaiian vacation
  8. Get a credit card
  9. Save up at least $5,000
  10. Spend more time with loved ones

Some of these resolutions will be a lot easier than others. I think the key with any new venture is that you remind yourself that any mistake or misstep is just one moment in the grand scheme of things. Stay positive, learn from mistakes, and don’t forget to have fun!

‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ Wedding Gowns!

If you know me at all, you know I’m just crazy about Tiffany’s! So when I found out there is a new line of wedding dresses all inspired by Audrey Hepburn as the fabulous Holly Golightly, I was beyond excited! The Bridal Collection was created by Reem Arca for Spring of 2018. The beautiful gowns come in both white and black, paying tribute to Holly’s classic black gowns from the film.

Sadly, I’ll have to admire these gowns a la distance. But for you future brides-to-be who love Holly Golightly’s classic style, be sure to at least try on these glamorous gowns!

NYX Makeup Favorites!

I recently purchased the NYX Color Correcting Concealer. This stuff is amazing!

Taking notes from art class in elementary school, this concealer uses the color wheel for how to conceal. I use the green on any red spots (acne, pigmentation), and the yellow for blue under-eye circles or veins. Apply your foundation over the concealer. The results? Marvelous!

I also love their Intense Butter Gloss. This color (IBLG11) is the exact one used on my wedding day. It’s a sweet little reminder!

French Toast Recipe!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Today I thought I’d share a delicious breakfast recipe. Sundays were always a day in my family when we would enjoy a yummy home-made breakfast or brunch. I feel like that is were my love for breakfast comes from. Now, my own traditions include weekend breakfasts. Typically, we eat eggs, but on occasion I enjoy something sweet. Here is an easy and fast French toast recipe that I hope you enjoy!

French Toast Recipe:

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick bread-I use my whole grain bread
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (I use organic)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter for griddle/pan

Directions

  1. Heat griddle on medium heat.
  2. Mix together your eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt.
  3. One slice at a time, gently coat your bread with the mixture on each side. Be careful not to drench the bread.
  4. Place your coated bread on the griddle. About a minute or two on each side. Press on the center of the bread while toasting to get an even texture.
  5. Remove from griddle and add butter, powdered sugar, and syrup to taste. Enjoy!

How To Pick Your Wedding Colors!

When planning my wedding, I knew I wanted the colors of blush & gold. I felt these two colors were both on trend, as well as timeless. For many brides, deciding on what your wedding colors should be can be a daunting task. Here are a few of my tips that should help make the choice a little bit easier.

  • Pick a dark and light combination: You want your wedding colors to be complimentary as well as contrasting. An easy way to do this is by picking a dark base color, and accenting it with your lighter color choice._mg_8230
  • Consider your season, but don’t let that limit you: I chose blush as one of my colors, which is typically a spring or summer color. But I got married in the fall. While it can be smart or convenient to select you colors based on the season you get married in, don’t let that limit your choices. I had my heart set on the blush color, oranges and burgundies just weren’t my thing. :
  • Use Pinterest as inspiration & direction: When you are picking linens, charger plates, flowers, and other items that involve your colors, it can get overwhelming. I highly recommend using Pinterest to hon your ideas. It will give you some direction, as well as specific pictures to show your vendors.
  • Make sure you have a base color: The base color of your palette needs to be a neutral. White, cream, or even black are great bases to keep your colors in check. Our wedding featured a lot of white in the background of the color scheme. This will help keep your colors from overwhelming your beautiful day. :

I hope these tips will help you when picking out your wedding colors! Comment below with your wedding day color scheme!

New Year, New You: Smoothie Recipe & Yoga Video!

Happy New Year, everyone! It’s amazing how with the drop of the ball you can feel like your whole slate is wiped clean! Fresh starts are a great time to reevaluate what things can be changed in your life for the positive.

I started the first day of 2017 with a quick smoothie recipe, yoga video, and some at-home-spa treatments! So refreshing!

Smoothie Recipe:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 grapefruit
  • Yogurt
  • Handful of spinach leaves
  • Dab of honey

Add your ingredients to a blender (I use my Ninja) until smooth. This smothie has a tropical taste thanks to the grapefruit. Just add a tropical umbrella and pretend you’re at the beach!

Here is the yoga video I did this morning as well:

Weight Loss Yoga for Beginners

It’s not too intense, but does give a little bit of strength exercises to make you feel great!
