5 Ways to Better Your Morning Routine!

I’m lucky enough to be a morning person. I’ve never had an issue with getting up early, in fact I rather enjoy it. I like being up while everyone else is asleep. I feel like I can get a lot of things done, & prepare myself for the rest of the day. However, when it’s a work day….Ugh.

My motivation is diminished in the morning when I have to go to work, knowing there is a long day ahead of me. So how do I keep my morning person happiness? Planning. I have five ways to help make my mornings a little bit smoother. This makes the rest of my day feel put-together, & I don’t dread my work day as much!

  1. Automatic Coffee Maker: This is something that everyone may not have, but if you do it’s a life saver! I have a Black & Decker coffee maker that I am able to auto start for before I roll out of bed. That way, when I wake up my coffee is all ready! Just be sure to set it up the night before. 😉
  2. Plan Your Outfit: This is were I lack a lot of the time. Look up the weather the night before, then pick out your outfit accordingly. This will help you save five minutes of, “Maybe this dress?” “Do these pants still fit?” “Where is my cardigan??” Trust me, that could be five minutes of extra sleep.
  3. Finish Something on Your To-Do List: The night before a long work day, I like to have something marked off my to-do list for the next day. Maybe I’ll do a load of laundry, a college assignment, or have the dishes cleaned. This really helps me feel like the next day won’t be as difficult to tackle.
  4. Mini Clean: I save my huge cleaning things for the weekends, but doing a ten minute clean the night before work can make you feel so great in the morning! I like to have my sink empty, my floors swept (if it needs it), & my counters cleared. This clears your mind and offers a more restful sleep.
  5. Pre-Pack Your Lunch: If you take lunch to work, packing the night before is such a great way to have an easy morning. It also helps with keeping your meals healthy. Rather than grabbing a granola bar or a slice of leftover pizza, you have a better chance of packing a healthy salad or sandwich.
Hopefully this will help you with your morning routine! Comment below with how you like to get ready for your mornings!

Back To Class!

Even though I know it’s about to come to a close, I’m trying to ignore the fact that summer is ending. For many of us, the end of summer means the beginning of school or college. Confession: I actually love school. I’m slowly getting my Bachelor’s Degree, so for me college classes are a requirement. Growing up, I was that kid who loved back to school shopping. New supplies were my favorite thing to shop for. I also worked hard at school, which continues to this day (4.0 GPA, thank you very much!). But as I entered college I realized that the necessities of binders, colored pencils, & cute erasers just wouldn’t cut it anymore. Here are my class necessities!

  • Coffee ~ This wonderful drink was not taken into account when I was younger. Boy, did I miss out! Now, I can’t begin my day without a nice hot cup of coffee & a dab of creamer.
  • Watch ~ While phones are great for keeping time, there is something timeless about knowing the time with a flick of your wrist. I have found that a watch is much more convenient than trying to dig my phone out of my bag.
  • Backpack ~ When I took classes on campus, backpacks were still a requirement. Carrying all your books & notebooks in your hand is not the easiest. Luckily, you can find a pretty backpack that has enough room for all your things.
  • Agenda ~ Writing down what you need to do every week helps keep your mind clear. Whether you keep assignment deadlines, or lunch dates with friends, you’ll be thankful you can visualize your week ahead!
  • Laptop ~ Have laptop, homework will travel. Being able to access your online work & classes anywhere can help with getting homework done.

Best of luck to all those going back! 🙂

Winter Blues…

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend & Valentine’s Day! Mine was fantastic, & you can read about it here. Now, on to this post! Even though we are halfway through February, winter is in full swing. I always start off loving winter, then by the middle & end all I can think about is sunshine and the beach. Recently, the weather has been crazy! Over the weekend, the winds were atrocious, & we lost power five times. Tonight, we are suppose to get around a foot of snow. While I love getting snow, and being off from work, by now I’m just ready for warm weather.

The winter blues are really starting to set in. It makes me think of that Breakfast At Tiffany’s quote: “The blues are because you’re getting fat, and maybe its been raining too long. You’re sad, that’s all.” Just switch out raining for snowing, & the comparison is real.

So when the weather outside is frightful, my advice is to get comfy & cozy! Get some magazines or a good book to pass the time. This will also keep you from overindulging in snacks, which I tend to do when cooped up in the house. I find that coffee is a must on cold days. It helps me wake up, plus I enjoy my mornings more with a cup of coffee in hand. While I recommend staying in your pajamas or sweats, putting on makeup will help you feel more put together, even if you plan on staying in bed all day. Finally, snow days are the perfect time to catch up on your favorite Netflix shows & movies. Pick something set in the summer to help you beat those winter time blues!
