When planning my wedding, I knew I wanted the colors of blush & gold. I felt these two colors were both on trend, as well as timeless. For many brides, deciding on what your wedding colors should be can be a daunting task. Here are a few of my tips that should help make the choice a little bit easier.
- Pick a dark and light combination: You want your wedding colors to be complimentary as well as contrasting. An easy way to do this is by picking a dark base color, and accenting it with your lighter color choice.
- Consider your season, but don’t let that limit you: I chose blush as one of my colors, which is typically a spring or summer color. But I got married in the fall. While it can be smart or convenient to select you colors based on the season you get married in, don’t let that limit your choices. I had my heart set on the blush color, oranges and burgundies just weren’t my thing.
- Use Pinterest as inspiration & direction: When you are picking linens, charger plates, flowers, and other items that involve your colors, it can get overwhelming. I highly recommend using Pinterest to hon your ideas. It will give you some direction, as well as specific pictures to show your vendors.
- Make sure you have a base color: The base color of your palette needs to be a neutral. White, cream, or even black are great bases to keep your colors in check. Our wedding featured a lot of white in the background of the color scheme. This will help keep your colors from overwhelming your beautiful day.
I hope these tips will help you when picking out your wedding colors! Comment below with your wedding day color scheme!
I’m currently sitting in the airport waiting to get on a flight back home. It’s been a whirlwind week. I got married, went on our honeymoon, and survived a hurricane! Hurricane aside, we had an amazing time!
I thought I’d do a quick post on my bridal shower. It was absolutely beautiful! My family and friends went above and beyond. Enjoy the pictures!
Long time, no blog. My new job is crazy right now. There is so much to learn and remember, but I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. It’s intense, but I must admit my first pay check was well worth it!
Now, on to the décor items that I’m obsessed with right now! Oh Joy! for Target is currently in stores. A lot of it is on sale, but if you happen to see it in your Target, especially the heart ottoman, I suggest snatching it up. The items I bought are so perfect for my apartment! Très chic!
As promised, here are some pictures of my apartment! This is the living room & kitchen. I love how it looks, & I think for the small space it has well used furniture & décor items. I get most of my décor items from Ross, Target, Marshalls, Home Goods, & TJ MAXX. While I believe that less is more, I also love having pieces that make me happy. Overall, I think my kitchen & living room is inviting and girly, obviously. Let me know what you think in the comments below! 🙂
Christmas is just around the corner, & I couldn’t be more excited! We’ve been enjoying decorating our apartment. That’s right, I said “our” apartment! After a year of applying for jobs, getting no response or a straight out “no” for jobs, my boyfriend got a job! It’s what he really wanted, & even though it took a while, I’m glad he waited for the job he wanted. Our long distance relationship is finally over, & he moved over this past weekend. Crazy! 🙂 It took us a while to unpack everything, not to mention we are still straightening everything up. So my apartment tour is on the back burner until we get everything together.
We also went engagement ring shopping! Talk about diamond overload. I just didn’t realize there were so many rings with so many different designs. I thought I wanted a princess cut solitaire ring, with diamonds on the band. But after trying on that look I thought it just wasn’t sparkly enough. The fashionista in me loves sparkles! I’ve found one ring that I really love. We are going to one more jewelry store to be sure it’s what I want. I’m so excited that we are taking these steps in starting our lives! I’ve been with this man for over seven years. I love him so much, & I’m glad he loves me the same. ❤
Now, about decorating our tree. It was a trip! We got this one tree that looked nice & full on the box. Don’t be fooled by the cover! This tree was so pitiful looking! The lights in the middle didn’t even work! I called it a Charlie Brown tree.
We ended up returning the tree and buying one that was only $10 more. I think the end result was so much better!

I recently moved into my new apartment, & I am in love! It is beyond beautiful, and I love putting my touches into every part of it. I’m still in the process of unpacking. I just never realized how much stuff I have. I thought I’d post a few pictures to give you an idea of my style & decorating aesthetic. I try to go for the eclectic style, similar to Monica’s apartment on FRIENDS.

Happy Monday, everyone!
Today I thought I’d talk about how to be the perfect hostess! Throwing a party can be both stressful & time-consuming. RSVP’s must be sent out, color scheme chosen, food made, tables set, & numerous other duties.
It is best to allow yourself plenty of time to make all these decisions. If you are throwing a rather large party (50-100 people), I think about 2-3 months allows you enough time to plan accordingly.
Once a color scheme is chosen (I picked gold & white), you can go out & purchase items that add elegance. I find that Marshalls & HomeGoods has the best selection when it comes to glassware, décor, & party items.
Food is where you can get really creative & fancy. Cheese plates with wine are a must! Petite, colorful hors d’oeuvres are perfect finger foods for small talk & allows your guests to mingle. Rather than a four-course meal, offer finger sandwiches. For dessert, small cakes, cookies, & coffee are the perfect way to end the night!
Here are a few more fabulous tips!
I simply adore beautiful living rooms. Having a pretty place to enjoy company is something I wish to achieve in my future home. In the next few years, I plan on having my own place. Until that happens, though, I have Pinterest to give me a plethora of décor ideas.
On my one of many browsing sessions for “Home Décor,” I came across this gorgeous fireplace idea. Rather than having an actual working fireplace, candles are placed in the center of the fireplace frame. This gives the feel of a fireplace, without the commitment of one. I think it looks so elegant & chic!
My grandmother recently got a new fireplace; her old one broke, and it was just as much to get a replacement piece as a new fireplace. But rather than throw out the old fireplace, I asked her if I could keep it. It is brown, I guess a laminate-ish material. I plan on using it in my future place, but I want to paint it white. I also had the idea of adding mirrors on the inside of the fireplace. This adds reflection to make the flames from the candles look bigger & brighter.
So what do you think? Is this a pretty living room idea? Comment below!
Merry Christmas Eve!
Since we are away on vacation, my family & I had to compromise on Christmas decorations. However, I think we did a pretty nice job considering we couldn’t bring much from home. My advice is to use a pop-up tree, & use your stockings and Christmas hats as part of your décor. Even though this was last minute decorating, I think it looks adorable, plus anything Christmas themed looks magical. 🙂
