My New Year’s Eve Plans!

Christmas this year was spent with my boyfriend’s family. We enjoyed company & presents on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I got a lot of wonderful gifts, including a set of pots & pans that I really love. You know you’re growing up when you want kitchen accessories! The next big event is New Year’s Eve. I’ve enjoyed the last few with my boyfriend. Our ritual is watching the New Year’s Eve special on TV, then enjoying a glass of champagne while the ball drops. Totally low-key but something we have made into a tradition.

This year I have adorable champagne pajamas. They are from Nick & Nora, & offer festive bubbly for the evening.

What are your New Year’s Eve plans?

10 Must Do Christmas Traditions!

 :

I’ve always thought of Christmas as a magical time. The lights, the smells, the gifts. This time of year is just so different from the rest. For many of us, it’s a great time to incorporate Christmas traditions. Whether you realize you have them or not, most of us do something special during the Christmas season that has become a tradition. I’ve listed my top 10 must do Christmas traditions that are sure to add the Christmas spirit to your holiday. Enjoy!

1. Bake Cookies ~ Whether for yourself or someone else, cookies are a perfect way to celebrate the holidays. The classics are sugar, gingerbread, & shortbread.

2. Buy Gifts ~ Many people start long before the temperature gets cold outside. Sadly, I’m not one of those people. I take advantage of all the holiday sales, & tend to shop for gifts right up until Christmas.

3. Wrap Presents ~ Check out my recent post for wrapping tips & tricks!

4. Put Up Your Tree ~ One of my favorite traditions, I love having my tree up right after Thanksgiving. That way I can enjoy the lights for as long as possible.

5. Play in the Snow ~ This season doesn’t look like I’ll get much snow anytime soon. If you are lucky enough to enjoy a snow day, build a snowman, snow angels, & go sledding!

6. Watch a Christmas Movie ~ There are so many great Christmas movies to watch! I love It’s a Wonderful Life, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, & Meet Me In St. Louis.

7. Enjoy Family Time ~ Many people only get a chance to see family during the holidays. Take advantage of that time together, & don’t forget to take pictures.

8. Exchange Gifts with Friends ~ My bestie & I just exchanged our Christmas gifts. We enjoyed an Audrey Hepburn movie & champagne. Taking time for your friends is so important during the holiday rush!

9. Kiss Under the Mistletoe ~ One of the more romantic traditions. Find your special someone & enjoy a magical mistletoe kiss!

10. Start Your Own Christmas Traditions ~ Making your own traditions during the holidays makes them that much more special!

How To Wrap Your Christmas Presents!

 :

Most of us have gotten the majority of our Christmas gifts, but for many of us, that’s the easy part. Wrapping those gifts can be a challenge. I have a few tips that I’ve learned after many Christmases of wrapping faux pas. Learn from my mistakes! 😉

Measure Your Paper: Do your best to measure out your wrapping paper for each gift. This will allow for cleaner cut edges that always end up being seen on one part of your present. There is nothing less appealing than seeing jagged cuts from your extra paper that needed to be removed.

Have Your Tape Ready: Whether you have a tape dispenser that is fancy, or you’re lining your tape along a table (so me!), be sure to have it handy. It’s so annoying when your folding the sides of your present & realize you ran out of tape!

Use Various Paper Designs: I like to have separate paper designs for each person. So I would have a design for my best friend, my boyfriend, my mom…This allows both visual appeal under your tree, & will help keep your presents organized.

Bags Are Your Best Friend: When wrapping your gift is just not an option, buy a bag. This is an easy, though still festive, way to surprise your friend or family member. Be sure to have pretty tissue paper that goes well with the bag design.

Bows, Bows, Bows: Bows can help with mistakes, or just add a little more pizzazz!

Hopefully these tips will help make wrapping your presents a lot easier! Comment below with your tips & tricks!

Christmas Time & Where I’ve Been!

Christmas is just around the corner, & I couldn’t be more excited! We’ve been enjoying decorating our apartment. That’s right, I said “our” apartment! After a year of applying for jobs, getting no response or a straight out “no” for jobs, my boyfriend got a job! It’s what he really wanted, & even though it took a while, I’m glad he waited for the job he wanted. Our long distance relationship is finally over, & he moved over this past weekend. Crazy! 🙂 It took us a while to unpack everything, not to mention we are still straightening everything up. So my apartment tour is on the back burner until we get everything together.

We also went engagement ring shopping! Talk about diamond overload. I just didn’t realize there were so many rings with so many different designs. I thought I wanted a princess cut solitaire ring, with diamonds on the band. But after trying on that look I thought it just wasn’t sparkly enough. The fashionista in me loves sparkles! I’ve found one ring that I really love. We are going to one more jewelry store to be sure it’s what I want. I’m so excited that we are taking these steps in starting our lives! I’ve been with this man for over seven years. I love him so much, & I’m glad he loves me the same. ❤

Now, about decorating our tree. It was a trip! We got this one tree that looked nice & full on the box. Don’t be fooled by the cover! This tree was so pitiful looking! The lights in the middle didn’t even work! I called it a Charlie Brown tree.

 :

We ended up returning the tree and buying one that was only $10 more. I think the end result was so much better!

Gifts for Mom!

Shopping for the moms in your life can be difficult. It feels like they already have everything. I think the best thing to do is ask them directly what they would like for Christmas (My mom wants the FRIENDS DVD Set). At least then you can get them something they will really love! 🙂
